Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur (SCEKL) is Southeast Asia’s main gathering for city innovation and digital change. As the first Smart City Expo in our region, #SCEKL25 brings together experts, government officials, and industry leaders to show practical solutions for building cities that include everyone, protect our environment, and use helpful technologies.
Taking place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre from 17-19 September 2025, #SCEKL25 offers a key platform for sharing new ideas while building partnerships across ASEAN countries and beyond.

Who Are We?
Smart City Expo Kuala Lumpur is hosted by three key Malaysian organisations working to drive the nation’s digital future:
Ministry of Digital leads Malaysia’s digital growth agenda, creating policies and plans that help the country thrive in the digital age. The Ministry works to ensure all Malaysians can take part in and benefit from the digital economy.
Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation is the government agency that puts these digital plans into action. Since 1996, MDEC has led programmes that help businesses go digital, build tech skills among Malaysians, and attract digital investments to the country. MDEC also runs other major events including MDX and PLACEHOLDER.
Digital Nasional Berhad is responsible for building and managing Malaysia’s 5G network, which provides the fast, reliable connections needed for smart cities to work well. Their work ensures Malaysia has the digital backbone needed for future growth.
The event is organised in partnership with Smart City Expo World Congress and Fira Barcelona, bringing their global expertise in smart city events to Southeast Asia.

About Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur was selected as the ideal host for Smart City Expo’s Southeast Asian debut due to Malaysia’s central position in ASEAN and its strong commitment to digital growth.
The city is actively implementing its Smart City Master Plan 2021-2025, focusing on improving urban mobility, environmental sustainability, and quality of life for residents and visitors.
These local efforts are part of Malaysia’s wider push toward digital transformation through national programmes like Malaysia’s Digital Economy Blueprint and regional partnerships through the ASEAN Smart Cities Network.
About the venue
SCEKL25 will be held at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, located in the heart of the city next to the iconic Petronas Twin Towers. The Centre offers modern facilities in a prime location, making it the perfect setting for Southeast Asia’s premier smart city event.
